[Beauty] DIY Rose Oil & Benefit of Rose Oil

by - Friday, June 22, 2018

A few months ago, I notice about the making of Rose Oil and Rose Water on YouTube. Then, I make some survey about the benefit of the Rose Oil and Rose Water. I just know that roses have a lot of benefits. It's not just a beautiful flower. The benefit of Rose Oil is evened out your skin tone, natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, relieves cramps, fades scars and stretch marks, helps calm nerves, regulates hormone levels, anti-ageing, improves your mood, moisturizing, delays and eases menopausal symptoms, reduces stress, natural laxative, strengthens the immune system, anti-viral, treats and prevents acne, encourages a regular menstrual cycle, improves digestion, reduces blood pressure, soothes headaches, reduces bloating, promotes circulation, and improves the effectiveness of other cosmetics you use.

The basics and some of the more creative ways to use the Rose Oil are
  1. Add a drop to your moisturizer to flight acne and prevent aging
  2. Use rose oil in your body lotion to get rid of stretch marks and improve your circulation
  3. Dilute a drop in a tablespoon of a carrier oil (I use coconut oil) and massage it into your abdomen to relieve cramps, bloating and to encourage menstruation
  4. To improve your mood, relieve stress or reduce nerves, just smell the scent straight from the bottle (make sure to not smell too much of the aroma, otherwise you'll give yourself a headache from the strong concentration)
  5. Have you cut yourself? Using rose oil is great to make sure no bacteria are going to give you an infection. Dilute one drop of rose oil in half a teaspoon of carrier oil and add a few drops of mixtures to your plaster. Put the plaster on your wound and the rose oil will kill any bacteria on your skin
  6. To use rose oil as a natural laxative, you can use a drop of pure rose essential that is safe for consumption and dilute it. Either add it to water, a juice or even your food and consumes it.

Lucky, the process to make the Rose Oil is not complicated, so l would like to make some of the DIY Rose Oil. The first steps to make the Rose Oil are to choose roses that are free of chemicals or pesticides, especially if you'll be using the oil or water in a food product. If you have a garden of roses, pick the roses in the morning, after the morning dew has evaporated. If you don't have a garden of roses like me, just buy the roses at the flower stores; try to choose the fresh roses. Then, gently wash to remove any bugs or dirt.

Let's start to make the DIY of the Rose Oil.
  1. Bring a few inches of water to a boil in a saucepan, and then remove from heat.
  2. Pour a cup or so of oil in a glass jar. Look for oil that doesn't have a much natural odor to avoid competing with the roses. Jojoba and grapeseed oil are the good choices but the olive oil (opt for the lighter kind) and virgin coconut oil will work in a pinch. The product of virgin coconut oil is Country Farm Organics, Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (500 ml) (RM 27.50) and 총동원 Essential 포도씨유 100% 스페인산 Premium Grapeseed Oil (500 ml) (RM 30.50).
  3. Crush, shred or "bruise" a cup of rose petals and petals and place in the oil. Swirl the jar around to coat the petals, but don't shake.
  4. Cover the jar and place into the hot water. Warming the oil will help release the scent from the rose petals. When the water cools, you can move the jar to a warm area like a sunny windowsill.
  5. Leave the jar alone in the warm area for at least 24 hours.
  6. Strain the oil through cheesecloth, pressing the petals to extract as much oil as you can. The color of you rose oil will be change based on your rose's color.
  7. If you want stronger-smelling oil, you can repeat steps 1 – 6 with the fresh rose petals. You may need to repeat the process 5 or 6 times to get the desired level of scent. Not to be surprised, if the color of the roses will be dark more than before.
  8. Pour clear oil into a dark bottle with a lid (dark glass will help to block out sunlight and keep the oil more stable) but if you lazy like me, just keep the oil in the dark place; so you don't need to change the jar.
The step maybe looks like more complicated to make the rose oil, but for me, it's easy to make your own rose oil so you know what's ingredients is been used to make the rose oil. The main reason I would like to make the Rose Oil is I want to use it for hair and skin. I try to make the Rose Oil based on Virgin Coconut Oil and Grapeseed Oil for my family. I hope its suit my hair and also my skin.
