[Travel] Trend Korea by Explore Seoul, Gangwon, Gyeonggi & Jeju Island on November 2017 (Day 8)

by - Monday, January 22, 2018

On the eighth day, we're going out from guesthouse around 08:15 am in the morning. It's because we have something special to do on this day, that why we need go out early. We're straight going to Anguk Station from Hongdae. The journey is quite far from Hongdae and our appointment is at 09:00 am. Lucky, we've got to manage our time and just in time we arrive there.

Actually, on this day, we're going to wear the traditional Korean dress as known as Hanbok. I make the reservation with Oneday Hanbok Store. In this store, they have any type of Hanbok and we're free to choose our favorite Hanbok based on our size. We're just rental the Hanbok for 4 hours only and the fee is KRW 15,000 (RM 57.00).

It's my first time try to wear Hanbok to the public. Before this, I just wear it in the studio only. The first location we visit is Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을). It's just nearby with our rental Hanbok. As you know, along this area is have many rental Hanbok stores if you want to try wearing it. You still can see the snow on last night is stay left and it's so beautiful.

Surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine, Bukchon Hanok Village is home to hundreds of traditional houses, called hanok, that date back to the Joseon Dynasty. The name Bukchon, which literally translates to "northern village", come about as the neighborhood lies north of two significant Seoul landmarks, Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno.

Today, many of these hanoks operate as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants, and tea houses, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience, learn and immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture. It's the first time, my mom goes to the Bukchon Hanok Village but my sister and I can consider our second time going to this place. Since we're wearing the Hanbok so I take this opportunity to take the photos with Hanbok at the traditional village. Sometimes, I feel like a princess in Joseon Dynasty in these moments.

Not to be surprised, we get approached by someone from TV Show. They ask us to take the picture with them. It's because I think they never look someone was the Hanbok in that area. I really forget they are from where but what can I say, they are maybe artist from USA or Spain because they have shooting at that moment.

Address: 37, Gyedong-gil, Jong-gu, Seoul (서울특별시 종로구 계동길 37 (계동)).

Direction: [Subway] Anguk Station (Line 3), Exit 1 or 2.

Before I forget; if you get lost in this area, don't have to worry because of this area as known as famous places for tourist so Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) have their staff around this area and they are will to help you. They also can speak English, Japanese and Chinese too. If you saw them, just ask help to them.

Then, we're moved to Ssamcheongdong Road. This is recommending by the staff of KTO when I'm asking them about a few places around this area. It's quite a lot places just nearby but its have quite a lot of walking too. I just follow the direction that recommended by them and I think I make the short-cut road from Bukchon Hanok Village to Ssamcheongdong Road.

Since yesterday its snow so I can see quite many snows on the road, tree and also on the roofs. Plus, the roads also become slippery. Lucky, the roads I follow was led to me the YG PLACE Flagship Store on Ssamcheongdong Road. It's not in my plan in the first place but I'm happy about that.

We've arrived there around 10:00 am so we take rest at the traditional café just opposite the YG PLACE; which is Ogada Café. We need a warm place to rest for a moment before we're visiting the YG PLACE. We order the drink of Omija Roseship Blending (hot) (KRW 4,900 – RM 18.60), Hallabong Omija Blending (hot) (KRW 5,400 – RM 20.50), and Ssangwha Tea Latte (hot) (KRW 5,400 – RM 20.50). All these drinks have come together with sweet cookies.

On news in Instagram Moonshot Korea, YG PLACE Flagship Store in Ssamcheongdong was made Grand Open Event on that day and its start on 11:00 am until 20:00 pm. It's the same place of Moonshot Flagship Store Ssamcheongdong, just the YG Place in the second level in the building. Can you imagine we're going there by wear Hanbok? I think at that moment, we're the first customers doing that.

Just in one place, you can see all the YG Family in here. Among the kinds of stuff they selling are Moonshot (cosmetic and skincare products), YGE Goods (YGE Artist Merchandises), KRUNK (YG Blue Bear), and NONA9ON (Fashion). During the Grand Open Event, I saw they make the big sale, especially to NONA9ON stuff. It does totally make me a little bit crazy at that time.

Then we're taken our lunch at Halal Kitchen Restaurant. It's located on the Ssamcheongdong Road too. This restaurant quite small but it's nice and clean. We order the Japchae (KRW 5,000 – RM 19.00), Chicken Spicy (Dak-Bokkeumtang for 2 persons) (KRW 26,000 – RM 98.80), and three of rice (KRW 3,000 – RM 11.40). So the price of our lunch is KRW 34,000 (RM 129.20) with free warm plain water. The taste is delicious and suits our taste.

After lunch, we've returned our Hanbok and then we're moved to the Lotte World Plaza. It's because my sister wants to but something at the Hard Rock Café Seoul Store. Our next place is COEX Mall. I just want to visit the COEX Starfield Library. It's located in the middle of COEX Mall. This library is so big and beautiful. How come has a beautiful library in the shopping mall? It's so unique and extra for me. I hope this kind of library will have in Kuala Lumpur soon.

Then, we're going to Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). I not sure how many time I visit this place since I'm going to Seoul but my mom and sister not yet visit the Rose Light so that why I took them in this place. It's free to the entrance and also you can as many photos you want in this place. We're can't stay longer in that place; it's so cold. But we got spend our shopping time in the shopping mall in this area.

Our last location on this day is the Myeongdong area. I think it's common to visit this place much time during the holiday. I love Korean Street Food in Myeongdong area during the night time. I got to try the Roast Lobster with Cheese and the price is KRW 15,000 (RM 57.00) for one.  Yes, it looks expensive and the taste is good and delicious. You will never regret to eat this. Even my mom and sister also like it so much.

Again, we're eating our dinner at the Busan Jib Restaurant. I think my mom and sister like this restaurant so much and it's easy to eat halal foods when they are crazy shopping in Myeongdong area. You know girls love shopping and they can spend the time to shopping rather than be eating. But on this kind of weather, I more consider eating and relax in the café after I finish shopping what I want to buy. After all, is done, we're straight going back to our guesthouse and rest for next day.
